DESCRIPTION
JiXii is a jigsaw puzzle game that allows you to use your own images to break apart and put back together again. You can change settings (such as image size, number of pieces, piece patterns), game sounds and appearance (background colors, highlight method, option for piece outlines, seamless pieces). Timer is available to keep your records. In the registered version, your settings, puzzle state and record will be saved automatically. Puzzles can be saved separately as JiXii documents or as simple Java applets which you can upload to your site or give your friends as stand-alone puzzles.

VEGGIEDUDE  I'm a big fan of the Super Jigsaw collection by Gamehouse, but I've always wished they would include the ability to use my own Photos and Pictures. So finding this program was a godsend. I think the author should visit the Gamehouse games and borrow some of their ideas. For user friendliness, GH wins big, simply because they use cool sound effects. I sorely miss the 'click' noise when the pieces 'snap' together. JiXii is a good effort, but it needs to be more user friendly to make it feel like a well rounded game.

Here is my wishlist:

1) Implement soundfx, especially for clicks with the mouse and for when pieces snap together.

2) Link the program to the iPhoto library so snatching photos is a snap.

3) Link the game to iTunes, so we can have our own soundtrack in the background!

Even though JiXii falls a bit short, I intend to send in my shareware fee.

VEGGIEDUDE  After playing around with it a bit, I disovered that the game does indeed have sound FX, but they are OFF by default. Maybe you should have them ON by default? Just a suggestion.

Here's a couple more comments for improvements:

1) Please conform keyboard commands to OS X standards - for example, preferences should be Command-Comma (instead of Command-Y).

2) Making a puzzle only 30 or 24 pieces is very hard to do. I have a three year old who loves to do puzzles on the computer, but at her level, about 30 pieces is the best she can handle. It takes me about 30 seconds trying to manuveur the mouse in a tiny increment to do this!

TROLLIN  Hello veggiedude,

Thank you very much for your purchase and suggestions.

Please find below my current replies:

- Sounds are off as default in order not to disturb people when JiXii is tried for the first time in a place where you must be quiet - just want to be cautious.

- Command-Comma: yes, it may be time to change. When I first made JiXii, I looked at some programs using Command-Y - seemingly I picked up wrong ones. Afterwards, noticed but kept it not to confuse the long-time users of JiXii, while no one claimed to change.

- Link to iPhotos: I may be able to improve the current option of "selecting your image folder".

- Link to iTunes: I am not sure what to do... selecting your background music folder, maybe? You can anyway use iTunes, while you are playing JiXii...

- An easier way of making puzzles with a small number of pieces: I will try to improve this aspect in the next update.

Meanwhile, hope you and your daughter enjoy JiXii. Trollin
