ROBOTANK  I'm posting here in hopes of getting a response from the developer. I sent in a question/suggestion via the dev's web page, and I've also tried to register for the Snarb.tk forums. This was 5 or 6 days ago, and I've yet to receive either a response to my question or even a confirmation email for the forum registration. I don't know if this is maybe a problem with email, since the dev seems fairly responsive, judging by this page and the Snarb.tk forums. I just tried forum registration again with a different email address, so I'll see what happens with that (nothing yet). I also haven't received my serial from purchasing Everplay on MU Promo. My account states that the serial should have been posted within 24 hours; it's now been over 36 hours since I purchased it. Maybe this is up to MacUpdate and has nothing to do with the developer, but I'm a little concerned that if I was supposed to receive anything by email directly from the dev it may not have gotten through. I would appreciate any assistance with this.

ROBOTANK  It turns out the emails weren't getting through due to my ISP blocking them. I've received my licence now with the assistance of MacUpdate support and the developer. Thank you!

ERIC SUTER  Everplay won't allow personalization of its icon without reporting the binary as damaged and forcing the user to quit and re-download the program. No thanks.

SNARB  This was actually unintentional. Only the binary is supposed to be code signed, not the entire bundle. It will be corrected in the next update.

HAMDI  One problem I noticed: it cannot play audiobooks. (Nor can Ecoute, actually, or Coverstream or Coversutra.) Why not?

Other than this, it is a lovely application.

JAYSCOTTGOLD  I'm a long time Cover Stream user and would like to use Everplay. The website however says that I need to use the same email address I used when I purchased Cover Stream to get the 50% discount. The problem is I haven't used that email in almost a year.

Guess I'm not buying Everplay.

SHANE C SMITH  I'm wondering if they plan on discontinuing Cover Stream? They pretty much both do the same thing so why would I buy this? Other than the player I just don't see the difference? I question the future of Cover Stream when they offer Everplay at half price to current CS users. Can someone shed some light on this?

SNARB  Hello! No, Cover Stream will not be discontinued. We will keep maintaining it with regard to bugs and system updates, etc. The reason we are releasing Everplay (or rather maintaining two different but similar projects), is that a lot of Cover Stream users objected to changing from the dark HUD interface to the shiny bright Everplay UI. Also, some preferred an iTunes controller to a stand-alone player. We respect that, hence Everplay. The main difference betweeen the two projects is Everplay's much superior integration with Last FM, with support for both web and radio services. Cover Stream only supports scrobbling, but not listening to radio, tagging songs, posting shouts, etc. We offer Everplay at a great discount for registered Cover Stream users simply because they have contributed to the development by supporting us.

MGRIMES  It'd be nice if Everplay used last.fm artwork via coverflow when using last.fm radio. Also lacking is a shortcut to Find current track in iTunes, since Everplay cannot manage music, it's too much work to remove music from the iTunes library currently. Otherwise a solid iTunes controller.

SNARB  Hello! Unfortunately we cannot use last.fm artwork in the cover flow for several reasons (one being they are too small). But we did add the "Reveal in iTunes" feature in the final 1.0 version, per your suggestion. Good one, thanks!

YOSHINATSU  I'm not an app basher or anything, but why use Everplay instead of iTunes+Last.fm Scrobbler, or Vox?

FLOUNDER  While I like Everplay, I feel a few shortcomings are in it.

If for some reason iTunes is open the hotkeys will not interact with iTunes. so if you are listening to something in iTunes and then try to use the hotkeys you will have a different track playing though everplay, a little annoying. I would like to see everplay control iTunes when iTunes is open and if not then revert to the default behavior

Also I would like to see the plugin type for desktop cover art. I'm not a big fan of the default styles and would love to see a plugins like bowtie and ecoute.

Other than that awesome work

SNARB  Last FM radio services require a monthly subscription for residents outside the US. I think it's currently $3/month.

RAYCON  I've enjoyed Cover Stream for some time, and what could be more impressive than a next-generation Cover Stream? Well, even though it's a 1.0 beta, I still feel I should offer some constructive criticism.

Functionality complaint: I DO live in the United States. Now I "need to be subscribed in order to use the Radio API"? If it weren't for the tagging (working) and adding to playlist (actually, this isn't working) capabilities, I'd go back to Cover Stream.

GUI complaint: The GUI seems nicer. Light colored backgrounds are in these days, I guess. However, I do miss the large 3D tilted album image I get on my desktop with Cover Stream. This one is not resizable.

SNARB  Sorry, my bad. Apparently a subscription is required for everyone these days. The desktop artwork is smaller because Last.fm artwork are small and would appear blurred if resized. There is a rational explanation to everything ;-)

TEXY  No, this app is amazing! You really have to try it for yourself to see! I just wanted to try it, and now can't seem to function without it. It really is light, awesome interface and just plain intuitive. Last.fm integration just works and it's just a great addition to my music life. Used Coverstream in the past, and although Everplay does share some features with Coverstream, it is just tons better and does not require iTunes to be running. This is just on another level.

Thank you to the guys at snarb.tk
