Layers captures every window, every palette, every menu, every menu and status bar icon, every icon on the Desktop, and even the Dock and the Desktop background for each of your connected displays will be saved as a separate, editable layer in the resulting Photoshop image file.

KFUKUYAMA I really love this program! I bought it in Macpromo and worths each penny! I think this program is a must have for people who make software Guides & Reviews. It will save time on several situations. One in special is the function "Capture Front Window". The program captures the active window you seeing and save it in a folder. This image file name is based on your computer time. So, it is possible to create a organized sequence of captured files. Which means, you can make a Step by Step guide of an Application Setting faster than ever! Thanks "wuonm" for this great app!

LEO SPILL A very cool application. I dare anyone to use it and not... on finding the apps layered file open in photoshop ( with every element moveable within it ) extremely impressed. As they might say in España... Sorprendente! and Asombrosa! After the initial surprise, I don't really think it's worth the bucks for me. But for those that deal exclusively in screen captures or have the spondoolies to splash - the dough to blow. There is no reason not to buy this tiny, but very satisfyingly 'wow factor' application.

PETE-ON-THE-WEB I had second thoughts at $25, but with layers being on sale now, I snapped it up. This is fantastic for capturing web pages that scroll down. I had been using WebSnapper, but Layers makes it so much easier and faster.

HANS DE WOLF1 A great tool, but I hope that it will evolve into a tool that also captures objects such as text and vectors. The perfect tool for me would be a combination of Layers and Web Snapper (Web Snapper is limited to web pages...)

MISHA Sometimes MacUpdate is notified of releases ahead of public release. The Layers website is showing 1.2.2 (which we just posted) as being current, so everything seems to be in order now.

DENNY DOUBLEPLUS MARKETING Layers it truly an incredible screen capture application. I'm always amazed when I capture my screen and the open the file up in Photoshop and find that all of the components on my screen are each on a different layer. Truly an ORIGINAL and OUTSTANDING application!

DARYLF2 I love Layers in general, but the new WebShot feature isn't working for me. It "locks" Firefox 3.5 (the final release that came out today, 2009-06-30) with a spinning power/wait bezel overlaid on top of the Firefox window. I can switch to other apps, but Firefox is locked as the topmost app. The only way I can "release" Firefox from Layers WebShot is to kill the Layers process via Activity Monitor or "killall" from Terminal... I hope they resolve this problem, as WebShot sounds like a TERRIFIC new feature.

ANONYMOUS Firefox 3.5 WebShot has not been thoroughly tested yet, is not fully supported in current version of Layers. It's a case of bad timing. Until yesterday, 30th of June, the official Firefox release was 3.0 We'll update Layers very soon. Sorry for the inconveniences. By the way, supported versions are: Safari 3 and 4, Firefox 3.0, WebKit r4185+ and Opera 9.5+
