RadioRocker is the simple way to listen to terrestrial radio on your Mac. This isn't a streamer for internet radio, RadioRocker contains over 5,000 stations from across the United States. Choose what state and choose the station and you're off and running.
RadioRocker is perfect if you want to listen to a sporting event in another state or town. For instance: if you're from Massachusetts and you miss listening to WBZ NewsRadio 1030 for all your news, simply pull up the list for Massachusetts, double-click on WBZ. All of a sudden you're listening to WBZ right on your Mac.
Want to listen to a game in Pittsburgh? Select Pennsylvania as the state and choose your favorite station. Like the mix of a station in California, but you live in Virginia, select California as the state and choose the station.
Want to go to the stations website and check out any promotions or learn more about the disc jockeys or anything. Simply click the globe next to the digital readout and you'll instantly go to that stations website.
Presets, just like in your car radio... You can assign presets of your favorite stations to the 6 preset buttons in the player window. Click "Manage Preset Buttons" in the "File" menu or use Command+P. Choose which button you want to assign to the song currently playing. Instantly the preset will be set and you can customize the name of the button. Next time you launch RadioRocker just click your preset button, just like on your car stereo and you'll be listening to the station you like instantly.
Version 1.2.10: Fixed issues with issues fixed in previous release. Version 1.2.9: - Worked on fixing an issue where a station would continue playing after the app has quit, or if it is unhidden and crashes. I have noticed this is an Intel Mac problem, I am unable to reproduce the issue on my PowerPC Mac
- Fixed some issues with preset stations and custom stations. These issues may require repopulation of the presets or custom stations.
- Again, there are still some issues of stations that require Perian to play. Depending on the machine whether it is an Intel Mac or PowerPC, some stations play on the first try and some play after 3 or 4 tries.
- Other user interface issues have been resolved.
- Working on making partnerships with radio stations to provide more reliable streams.

THE MAN IN THE BLACK SEDAN defaults write com.whimsplucky.RadioRocker register -string "1" Might want to fix that, and put a real scheme in there. Also, thanks for the lulz. (Version 1.2.9)

OSSIE In one place on this screen you say "completey free" and then you charge money? For a buggy as can be app? That is clearly in it's earliest stages? Perhaps the issues are beyond the developers' control. Whatever. Did they not try the app themselves? Are seriously expected to believe they have sufficient success to warrant this version (1.2.2) to be considered a full, ready for prime-time release.? I sure do hope they get it sorted. Specific issues, in no particular order: too many stations do not connect (may have to do workaround of actually hitting play button), no installer, data in stations window not sortable, trial is one hour (one time), payment required at this early stage of development. (Version 1.2.2)

RG2 Keep working on it guys, you've got a long way to go. First of all, you can't change the view-by of each column. If you don't know the call letters of the station, you've got to search through the non-alphabetical list of city, genre, etc. Then, when you finally find the one you want, it won't even play! What a wast of time. (Version 1.2)

FROSTBYTE I'm directing this here as I can't find a contact for feedback on the Developers website. This looks promising. I'm willing to be patient as the Developer works through issues. However, after trying the program with spotty, off and on performance my "1 hour trial" is up. I won't buy something that doesn't work very well, but would also like to keep checking up on it. The Developer might want to rethink his 1 hour limit on this work in progress. (Version 1.1.2)

FROSTBYTE Thanks for pointing that out MU, and sorry for my oversight. It must have been one of those "forest through the trees" moments! (Version 1.1.2)

DJMAC317 I wanted to give an update on the progress of the streams. At release time there all the stations forked in one way or another, and with an update I did correct for some stations and how they did their streaming. Currently Some stations have either stopped streaming at those addresses or changed they way they stream. I have not heard from any stations directly on this. However, in an effort to make the streams work I have been running back through the database to find the affected stations. Also it has come to my attention that some streams don't work either because the version of Flip4Mac is out of date or Perian is not installed or times out. In some cases having the install of Microsoft Silverlight seems to help the issue. Every radio station is different and compensating for all of them is time consuming and very difficult. I want to make this program the best terrestrial radio streaming program I can. With the inclusion of being able to add custom streams this opens it up to internet radio as well. I ask for your patience while I work to correct the database. Individual database updates will be available at http://www.whimsplucky.com/Whimsplucky/RadioRocker.html (Version 1.1.1)

CAPITALJ I, too, found every single station to be unavailable. The developer responded quickly to my emails, but telling me to make sure I had Flip4Mac and Perian installed (I do) didn't actually help. I like the idea behind RadioRocker, but it doesn't work for me. (Version 1.1.2)

MIKAELF This software doesn't work. I installed it. Started it and it immediately hangs with two dead dialogs on the screen. One that prompts for som installs and a trial nag screen. Neither responds. Force Quit is the only way out. Trash can next.
