DESCRIPTION
PrBoomPlus is a modified PrBoom port with uncapped framerate, variable gamespeed, re-record, walkcam, chasecam, full mouselook, fov and other features without loss of compatibility with original DOOM.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.4.8.5:
  • Set processor affinity mask under non-Windows platforms using the POSIX API (from chocolate-doom). This is a workaround for a bug in SDL_mixer that causes occasional crashes.
  • Fixed crash when the nodes used for in-wad demo playback are not the same as those used for playing. (introduced in 2.4.8.3)
  • Strange behaviour may result if a dehacked patch changed the music or sound lump names. (introduced in 2.4.8.2)
  • Fixed crash if a response file (i.e. @myargs.rsp) is used.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later, and you need the original Doom data files to be able to play. Depending on your Doom version these are called doom.wad, doom2.wad, tnt.wad or plutonia.wad. You can also get the Demo version from Doomworld.

D9  I cannot get this to launch using the DOOM2.WAD. I copied the wad file from an original Doom II CD. I placed it in the Home>Library>App Support>PrBoom folder. But no go.

I'd love to see this work. Anybody else able to play this using DOOM2.WAD??

D9  Now it works (v 2.4.5)!!! So it's great to get this classic working on my MacBook. Now, if someone makes the effort to update the graphics like was done for the Bungie Marathon series, I'd be in game nirvana!!

ALEXF  Looks like a great program, but I can't get the DOOM1.WAD (shareware level) working. I've added it to ~/Library/Application Support/PrBoom and it shows up, but the Launch button is greyed out.

$IR M.  I had this problem too, but noticed "doom2.wad" worked ... so tried changing the "DOOM1.WAD" filename to all lowercase ... try it!
