DESCRIPTION
JAlbum helps you make website albums of your digital photographs. With JAlbum, no extra software is needed to view the albums, just your web browser. Unlike "server side" album scripts, JAlbum albums can be served from a plain web server without scripting support. You can also share your albums on CD-ROM. It is written after numerous disappointments with existing album software. With JAlbum you have full control of the look of the generated album, not just color theme and basic layout, still making an album is just a matter of drag and drop + a button click if you prefer to use one of the many existing looks. It will process your images, make index pages and slide show pages and even upload the final album to the Internet for your friends to see.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 8.9.3:
  • When repairing broken links in album projects, Jalbum now also automatically repairs broken links in subfolders
  • The embedded skin text editor now launches faster when opening multiple documents (CTRL+SHIFT+E)
  • Image specific and folder specific variables now have higher precedence than global user variables. This change makes user variables behave as expected and opens up for more flexible use for advanced users
  • Uses faster API for file copy operations (Java NIO)
  • Updated bundled Turtle skin to v1.3, now with improved Google maps integration, bug fixes and sharing abilities with social networks like Facebook and Twitter
  • Updated Finnish, Polish and Romanian translations. Thank you translators!
  • Repairing broken links in album projects when moving between PC and Mac was tedious. Should now work far better.
  • Fix to image size calculation. Could sometimes differ one pixel between physical size (correct) and size reported in generated pages
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

PELEVE  This is a superb application. Within half an hour after downloading I was able to integrate a classy photo gallery with my website. Tremendous value as a free application, but I suggest that you make a donation if it saved you time and aggravation. It was very intuitive to use. The setup for integrating with a website is straight forward, and it functioned, at least for the first time, without hiccups. This is the way I would like to see all apps to work: doing a few speciic tasks very well.

DFK  This program is brilliant! Especially with version 7, it is easy to use and looks great. The included skins are attractive and the galleries look professional.

JAlbum's greatest strength is the ability to make your own skins. It is completely customizable, flexible and easy to learn if you know HTML. There is also an active user community. Finally, if you ever need to use a PC JAlbum will run on that too.

SOMEONE00  I just want to say that the latest version of JAlbum looked quite nice on the OS X platform. Also, I hope the developer understand that OS X users tend to have a much higher expectation when it comes to Apple HIG compliance and integration due to the large percentage of 3rd party apps that follow the Apple HIG.

Instead of trying to fix some of the bugs in the aqua look and feel manually, the developer might be interested in this BSD-licensed project: http://www.randelshofer.ch/quaqua/. Quaqua is an implementation of the Apple HIG and fixes many of the quirks and bugs in the Aqua L&F that come with OS X.

ps. Despite the comment about the lack of icons, OS X application never use icons on buttons and tabs! So I suppose that particular reviewer is the one who is ignorant. The developer should simply strip all icons from the OS X version from now on (instead of wasting the trouble to make OS X- specific icons).

/USR/BIN/PAUL  I tried JAlbum over a year ago and didn't like it and I tried it again today and I still do not like it. JAlbum is overall is pretty good, however I dis-like it's interface and also it's inability to intergrate into other applications, such as iPhoto or iView Media Pro. Yes, JAlbum has great templates, but I'm sorry, I cannot get over it's clumsy interface and lack of intergration. For now I'm sticking with Galerie!
