MAIJA  Although I've had this mac for going on two years, I still feel rather overwhelmed and lost.

It's now begun to be quite sluggish and the icon/symbol that shows it's busy working is popping up regularly now... even when I have only one thing on the go.

I've wondered about viruses. *shrug*

So today I started reading to find answers. Since there is nothing called "system tools", people have told me I need do nothing. My own research now tells me different stories.

I deleted almost all languages and widgets and stuff like that.

Then I came across articles that talk about onyX. Since I am running 10.5.8 I tried to download the appropriate version of onyx. When clicking on that link a window pops up asking if I wish to download it. I click yes to "save" and wait... Nothing happens! I did it twice. Then I thought to look into my "downloads". I found the two onyx' that I downloaded. I clicked on it and a mini window came up to show me the file was being opened and verified. Then.... nothing!

What am I doing wrong?

RSECOR  This is the 2nd time I've tried using this software on a computer.

I was hoping it would work better this time then the 1st time.

However, I ran into the same problem.

After using it a bit it completely destabilized the computer.

Setting everything back to default didn't help re-stabilize at all.

Most likely I will be reinstalling OSX this weekend due to this.

Otherwise it looked like it would be a great maintenance tool.

JAZZICA  Not a hard review to write.

Ran all tasks successfully, no snafus or slowdowns.

Installed and left old pref files where they were.

No problems I can see.

A polished version of a wonderful cleaning utility.

Thanks again, Titanium.

ROBOTANK  I see the description has been corrected to "internet cache." That's a relief. I was afraid that the ability to delete the entire Internet, though clearly intended only for emergencies, was simply too powerful, that it was only a matter of time before some fallible Mac user, motivated perhaps by child-like curiosity or a misguided desire for revenge on online antagonists, gave into temptation and instantly annihilated the social and intellectual lives of billions of innocent people :)

MEMNARCH113  OnyX is a good program. For the low price of $0.00, you too can be fixing up your mac in no time. While many of the scripts in OnyX are handy, several are also run by OS X on its own. Feel free to ignore daily, weekly and monthly tasks (at least in snow leopard). Other then that, it is a good program to keep around your mac. Simple UI and nice customization makes it one of my favorite freeware apps ever. It is worth the time and hard drive space to keep this guy around, just in case your mac starts acting up or something. OnyX is worth the time it takes to download.

BRAINIACD1  I installed OnyX 2.1.3 in Mac OS 10.6.2 over OnyX 2.0.6 which I had from before I upgraded to Snow Leopard and tried to open Onyx. When I was prompted to enter my password, I tried my user password as well as the password for an administrator account (the account I usually use is not an administrator account). Both passwords failed. I tried repairing disk permissions as prompted by the OnyX dialog box, but this did not help. I have tried uninstalling OnyX and deleting the preference file as well, but OnyX still will not accept any of my passwords after I reinstall it.
