Remote Control from Airfoil Speakers

Airfoil Speakers offers remote control of selected audio sources being transmitted by Airfoil. A list of supported sources is available for audio being transmitted by Airfoil for Mac and for Airfoil for Windows.

Using Remote Controls

When Airfoil Speakers is receiving audio from Airfoil for Mac 4 (or later), the remote controls will automatically appear if the source supports them. It will look something like this:

These should be straightforward - click back to jump back a track, forward to jump forward, and play/pause to toggle playback.

Buffered Controls

Airfoil uses Apple's AirPlay audio streaming protocol, which buffers audio for approximately two seconds before playing it back. Because of this, when you click a remote control button, the result is not immediately heard. When you click a button in Airfoil Speakers, you'll see a brief spinner, like this:

Once the spinner stops, you'll hear the result of the action.
